Road Closure Update – New Date

We would like to inform residents and road users that the previously scheduled road closure has been postponed due to delays outside of our control.
The closure will now take place on Monday evening, 13th April, weather permitting.
As part of ongoing upgrades at the intersection of Brays Road and Cairns Road, access to and from Cairns Road at this intersection will be temporarily closed from 13 April 2026 until 31 July 2026 to allow roadworks to be completed.
The project team and Council have carefully considered all construction options. A full closure has been chosen as it will minimise the overall construction duration and reduce impacts on motorists and the local community.
What to expect
No access between Brays Road and Cairns Road in either direction.
Temporary traffic changes, including a detour via Vermillion Avenue to access Griffin Heights Estate and Green Leaves Early Learning Centre.
A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will remain in place to ensure the safety of road users and construction workers.
Traffic management measures will be in place to manage construction activities and heavy vehicle movements.
Bus route 679 will detour via Vermillion Avenue to access Cairns Road during the closure.
Bus stop 312261 on Brays Road will be closed. Passengers are advised to use stop 312260, located approximately 400 metres to the east.
Please refer to the maps below for details of the road closure area and detour route.

As shown in the map above, the affected section remains unchanged from the last update, and the detour route (highlighted in yellow) will be in effect during the closure period. Motorists are advised to follow the marked detour and allow for additional travel time.
As daily operations may change, motorists are asked to follow instructions displayed on variable message boards located at both ends of the site when travelling along Brays Road.
The project team is committed to reopening Cairns Road as soon as it is safe to do so.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while these works are completed. Further updates will be provided if required.
